Privacy policy

4 September 2026

This post isn't translated yet, so it's shown in English.

This policy covers universaltill.com — this website — not the Universal Till software itself, which runs on your own hardware and is covered by its own documentation.

Who we are

Task Runner Technology Ltd (“we”, “us”), 82 A James Carter Road, Mildenhall, Suffolk, England, IP28 7DE, United Kingdom, company number 11442274, is the controller for personal data processed through this website. See our legal notice for full company details.

What we collect, and why

Browsing this site. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising trackers of any kind — there is nothing here to opt out of. It does store one thing in your browser’s own local storage, never sent to us or anyone else: your chosen display language, so the site remembers it on your next visit. Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure Static Web Apps) processes standard web-server technical logs (for example, IP address, browser type, and the page requested) as part of running the service, for security and reliability, for a limited retention period it controls.

The download page makes a request directly from your browser to GitHub’s public releases API to show the current app version. That request carries no data about you beyond what any web request does (e.g. your IP address, visible to GitHub, not to us).

Emailing us. The “Join the pilot” and “Notify me” links on this site open a pre-filled email in your own mail client, addressed to support@universaltill.com — nothing is submitted to us through the website itself. When you send that email (or any other email to us), we receive and store it, including whatever you choose to tell us (for example, your name, shop name, city, and the till system you use today), to reply to you and, if you’re joining the pilot, to set up and run the pilot with your shop.

We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t share it with third parties except where necessary to run our business (for example, our email provider) or where the law requires it.

Retention

We keep pilot and enquiry emails for as long as reasonably needed to manage our relationship with you, then delete or anonymise them.

International transfers

Where a service we use to receive or store your email operates outside the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on that provider’s own safeguards (such as the standard contractual clauses) for the transfer.

Your rights

Depending on where you’re located, data protection law (including UK GDPR and, for EU visitors, the EU GDPR) may give you the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these, email support@universaltill.com. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
